# Den — what changed Den installs directly rather than through a store, so nothing tells you a new version exists or what is in it. This file is that, written for the person running the app rather than for whoever wrote it: **what changed for you, and whether it is a reason to update.** Every dated release listed here was published at `den.forgesworn.dev`, signed with the same certificate since 0.1.0, and verified against the file the site actually serves rather than the one in a build directory. An explicitly named release candidate is not in that set until its artefacts pass those checks. Dates are 2026. ## 1.7.0 — 27 September **Set a block aside and come back to it.** - **Set aside for later.** When a block is paused, you can put it aside and start something else. It waits on the home screen with the time it had left, for as long as you like, and **Pick it back up** carries on the same block. **Let it go** records the time you worked, with Undo. Set-aside blocks stay on this device and do not sync. ## 1.6.3 — 26 September **Ready for the App Store and Google Play, and your own relays.** - Den no longer chooses a relay for you. Sync, pairing and block history use only relays you add on the Sync screen. A relay you had already changed to, or that came over when you paired, is kept. If Den was using its own relay for you, add a relay before sync carries on. - Block-history sync also waits for a storage host you choose, instead of using one Den picked. - Each relay can be read from, written to, or both, and switched off without losing its address. Each shows whether it is working, how many times in a row it has failed and when it last worked, with Check now to try it. - On iPhone and Apple Watch, a time-sensitive cue now arrives as one. It used to arrive as an ordinary notification, so Focus could hold it back and the self-test could never confirm it. - On Android 14 and later, the self-test's full-screen row has an Allow button that opens the setting, instead of only saying it was off. - Den bought from Google Play says updates come through Play, rather than sending you to the website for the APK. - If Android restarts Den's timer in the background and refuses to let it show its notification, the end cue still arrives on its alarm instead of Den stopping. - Settings no longer mentions Wear OS on an iPhone, or the browser app outside the browser. - The "Set up a Bothy" row is gone from Settings. It set up a separate signer and did nothing for Den. - Den no longer asks Android for Do Not Disturb access. Nothing used it. ## 1.6.2 — 26 September **Undo bars go away, and sounds play when you pick them.** - Marking something done, binning it, deleting a note or cancelling a timer shows Undo for six seconds, then the bar goes. It used to stay until you tapped it. Not done in the list still brings back anything finished. - Tapping a timer sound plays it, including Usual alert. On an iPhone the sample plays even with the silent switch on, as the Clock app's does. ## 1.6.1 — 26 September **Timers set to the second, with their own sound, and calmer screens.** - Set a timer with hours, minutes and seconds wheels, like the phone's own clock, instead of the slider that skipped lengths. Quick choices and recent timers are still one tap. Arrow keys and the mouse wheel work on a computer. - Each timer can have its own sound: Usual alert, Chime, Bell, Knock or Pips. On the web, the sound plays while the tab is open. The watch keeps its usual sound. - Cancel a running timer, with a few seconds to undo it. A finished timer offers "I've got it" and Repeat. - A new Haptic taps setting, on by default on phones, gives a small tap when you park a thought, say you drifted, mark something done, turn a timer wheel or a timer finishes. Turning it off also stops the buzz at the end of a block. - The block screen has one main button, Park a thought. Pause and Extend sit side by side, and Stop sits apart from them. On a phone held sideways, the timer and the buttons sit next to each other so nothing is cut off. - Extend says how much it adds, and always adds at least five minutes. At your longest length it used to add nothing. - Whether an alarm is set now reads as a quiet line, not a button. Check alerts only appears when there is something to check. - The break screen leads with the break and its clock. Back to it is the main button. - The top of the home screen names Notes and The list in words, and the extra buttons below Start are gathered into one quiet group. - Rows in The list say what their button does: Done or Shortlist. - Plainer words in a few places, such as "Just two minutes to start" and "12 minutes. That counts." ## 1.5.1 — 26 September **Parked thoughts wait somewhere you can find them.** - A parked thought now has somewhere to wait. Park with no words keeps the time and what you were working on, and the break asks what it was. Named or not, parked thoughts sit at the top of The list under Parked until you sort them: keep one in the inbox, put it on the shortlist, move it to Notes, or let it go. Each can be undone. Parks from the notification keep their time too. Parks made on a watch are still counted only. - Words typed into the Park sheet are kept when you tap Carry on. Before, only Done kept them. ## 1.5.0 — 25 September **Several timers at once, set without typing, in a new look.** - Keep an eye on more than one thing. Start the chicken, then the potatoes twenty-five minutes later; each timer runs, rings and stops on its own. Den keeps up to twelve. A timer saved by an older version carries over when you update. - Set a timer by sliding through round lengths, or tap a common one. A name is optional. Names and lengths you use often come back as one-tap choices. - Each timer's Stop and Repeat say which timer they belong to when read aloud, and each time is spoken in words. - On Apple Watch, the timer due next is shown with a count of the others. On iOS 26 each timer has its own Live Activity. - Den takes the Vitark Den look: amber on slate, in light and dark. The colour palettes are gone; light or dark, and your own photo, remain. Nothing in Den is red, including the messages. - While a block runs you can start another timer, from under the one showing or from the list of all of them. - On a tablet the block's ring and clock are larger, so the screen is not mostly empty. ## 1.4.0 — 14 September **Start with less preparation, and recover mistakes without losing your work.** - Block-history sync now sends a limited work record. Private captures, ratings and profile details stay out of new history uploads. Older encrypted uploads are not deleted by updating; Back up everything still includes your complete local data. - A native Windows development target is now in source, with file pickers, local key storage and scheduled notifications for an installed app. Windows distribution and installed-device checks are still pending; this is not yet a Windows download. - Den now has a native Wear OS app. Start without typing, pause and recover a timer, undo Stop, park a thought and keep a separate keeper. Finished blocks stay on the watch until you choose phone handoff and your Android phone accepts them. Google Play services can use an encrypted cloud connection for that handoff. Physical-watch and paired-phone checks remain in progress. - Start a focus timer on Apple Watch, with or without a name. Pause, extend, Stop and Undo work on the Watch while your phone is unavailable. Choose numbers, a shape or hidden time. Return keeps the finished block on your Watch until your iPhone accepts it for history. This timer is separate from the phone timer; paired-device and notification checks remain in progress. - Choose Simpler view when you want fewer controls around one timer. Keep Pause, Stop and Park a thought close by, and choose numbers, a shape or a hidden countdown. Temporary cue choices stay with this block and its break; returning restores your usual view. Your usual settings and separate keeper stay as they are. These choices survive reopening Den. - Come back to an unfinished note after closing Den. Back keeps a draft on this device; Continue draft reopens it. Save note makes it available to sync. Drafts are included in Back up everything, and Discard draft leaves any saved note intact. This also works for your optional return note. - Confirm a new device key is saved before syncing or connecting another device. If storage refuses, your local notes and list stay available and Sync offers a retry. Two browser tabs now share the same first key. - Locking your identity now pauses sync without selecting a different key. Unlock or retry directly from Sync; your local notes, list and timer remain available. Pending pairing and sharing stop when the identity changes. - Keep the previous native identity intact if setting up a replacement is interrupted. Switching identities now updates Den's sync key too. Device migration and complete lock/unlock checks remain in progress. - Preserve Apple Keychain values when ordinary or biometric-protected replacements fail. Existing encrypted records remain readable; installed custody and migration acceptance remain in progress. - A native Mac development preview now has its own window, menus, notifications and file pickers. Mac distribution and device checks remain in progress; the published browser app is still available. - Marked a task done by mistake? Undo puts it back on your shortlist, or in your inbox if the shortlist has filled up. You can also choose Not done in the Done list to return it to your inbox, even after reopening Den. Older done tasks are now reachable too. - Start a timer without naming a task. Add the name while it runs; the timer keeps its original start and end time. - Choose a smaller first move as soon as a personal task appears. - The optional setup invitation waits until after your first block. - The opening explanation now says that the first two minutes are part of the selected timer. - A Park accepted from a notification stays with its original block when Den receives it after Stop. Retrying a failed save counts it once. - Undo Stop stays available until you choose more break time or return. Reopening Den keeps that choice. Undo restores the remaining work time, and a paused timer stays paused. A failed save offers Retry Undo. ## 1.3.2 - 13 September **KithMoot sharing stays in the open-source edition.** - The web app and direct Android download retain room sharing and result review. - App Store and Google Play builds provide personal tasks, timers and Notes, with optional encrypted sync between your own devices. - Shared assignments from an older beta or imported backup remain in your backup. Manage them in the open-source edition; store builds do not reconnect to rooms. ## 1.3.1 - 8 September **A clearer Den icon: an open amber doorway on deep green.** - Updated the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android and web app icons. - The website favicon and shared-link image now use the same artwork. ## 1.3.0 - 7 September **Share a task with a KithMoot room and bring the next decision back to Den.** - Choose a room and a person or agent from a task's menu. Preview the objective, acceptance criteria and any action inputs before sharing. Notes, focus history and other tasks stay private. - Waiting work leaves your shortlist. Questions and results return to the same task in your inbox, ready for an answer or review. - Accept the result shown, ask for changes, cancel or hand the work over. A reported result stays pending until you accept it, and running work must stop before another owner takes over. - Saved updates can be retried without creating another assignment. Uncertain execution, conflicting updates and missing room history pause decisions. ## 1.2.2 - 6 September **A new icon, the web app opens without a connection, and errors leave a record you can send.** - Den's icon is now the time ring, in amber, with the doorway inside it. The same mark on Android, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and the web. - The iPhone app opens on a Mac with Apple silicon. Installed there through TestFlight, 1.2.2 (53) could not start, because Live Activities need a framework older Macs do not have. Live Activities, the alarm and the Watch link are iPhone features; on a Mac the cue arrives as a notification. - After one visit with a connection, the web app opens offline. Your list, notes and settings were already on the device; now the app that shows them is too. Nothing new is fetched to make this work. - Settings gains **If something went wrong**: a short record of any error Den could not handle, kept on this device only. Copy it into a support email if you need to. Read it first, because an error message can quote a task or note title. Den still sends nothing on its own. - Where a part of the screen fails to draw, Den now says so in plain words instead of showing a grey box. - iPad: the collapsed sidebar during a block no longer paints an error down the left edge. Its buttons had nowhere to show their labels. - During a block, a running **Keep an eye on** shows as one line with its time, its name and Stop, so it fits above the controls. Repeat stays on the launchpad card. On smaller phones the time ring gives way a little and its digits step down with it. ## 1.2.1 - 5 September **Connect devices without copying a long key.** - Pair another device uses six easy-to-read characters. A browser can now connect a new phone to the Den it already holds. - Back up my words gives you 24 numbered recovery words for your existing Den. Restore with words brings back the same sync access. - Older saved keys still work under Older backup. Failed key saves leave your previous key in place and let you retry. Keep a backup file too: recovery words restore access, not a copy of your notes and history. ## 1.2.0 - 5 September **Keep notes between devices and choose how Den looks.** - Notes keeps links and text separate from tasks. Paste, save, search, edit and copy from the home toolbar or desktop sidebar. - Pair your devices and turn on sync to share notes. Open Den on the other device, then Notes and Copy. Clipboard access happens when you request it; Den does not watch copies made in other apps. - Concurrent edits keep both versions for you to choose from. Delete has Undo, and backups include notes and unresolved versions. - If a note cannot be saved, its editor stays open so you can retry. A retry checks the stored data before reporting success. - Appearance offers four palettes, light/dark selection and a personal background photo. Your photo stays soft behind readable text and controls. Appearance is saved locally and included in exports, with Remove photo and Reset appearance available in Settings. Update each paired device to this version to share notes. Unsaved editor drafts do not survive closing the app; use Save note before leaving. ## 1.1.3 - 5 September **Keep changes when moving between devices.** - A device with an older copy now reads newer changes before sending its own. Edits arriving during sync remain available, including a quick second tap. Undoing a deletion survives the next sync. - Changing a task's date or attachment keeps its other details. - “Last synced” advances only after the relay finishes reading and accepts the outgoing changes. An unfinished exchange says so. - iPhone, iPad and Watch use Den's doorway icon. Update Den on each paired device to use the revised sync rules together. ## 1.1.2 - 5 September **Know when the timer is for a break.** - The timer after a block now says **Break** and **Return whenever you’re ready**. **Back to it** ends the break when you choose. - Wrapped break text and alert details line up with the timer. Smaller phone screens use a compact timer to leave room for the buttons. ## 1.1.1 - 5 September **Check the cue without waiting a minute.** - The notification self-test now takes 10 seconds to send its cue. Tap **Run 10-second test**, lock your phone and listen or feel for it. - The countdown tells you to lock your phone now. Den still checks whether delivery was recorded and asks whether you heard or felt the cue. ## 1.1.0 - 5 September **Come back to the block you started, even after Den restarts.** - Running blocks and breaks keep their original end time after a restart. A completed block is recorded once. Stop also gives you ten seconds to undo. - Stop, Park and Extend work from Android's notification while Den is closed. Backups now use Android's file picker, so you choose where the file goes and can open it again without browsing a hidden app directory. - The cue check reports what the device currently allows, then asks whether you heard or felt the test. A permission switch alone isn't a delivery test. - Wide screens get a sidebar, and small landscape screens keep the block controls in reach. You can keep an eye on something during a block or break, and choose a two-minute timer or an exact length. - The Apple candidate adds Watch complications and a Smart Stack widget. Watch commands survive a restart and reconnect without duplicating a keeper. A keeper started on the Watch keeps its cue there; saving it on the phone is shown separately from scheduling an alert. Live Activities gain Park and Extend actions. Android and web are distributed here. The Apple build goes through the existing internal TestFlight route. Physical iPad, paired-Watch alert and accessibility acceptance still need completing before an App Store release. ## 1.0.0 — 3 September **The same Den on Android and Apple devices, with one alarm for the thing you must come back to.** - **Keep an eye on dinner without turning it into work.** Name the thing and choose a short time. The countdown survives an app restart, stays outside the task list and block history, and can be stopped or repeated. Android uses its exact-alarm route. iOS 26 uses AlarmKit, with local notifications on older iPhones and iPads. - **Speaking is visible now.** Android opens the operating system speech activity from the capture field. Siri can add a task or start a keeper. Den receives the transcription and still has no microphone permission or stored audio. - **The Apple app fits iPad instead of stretching across it.** The launchpad keeps a readable measure in full screen, landscape and split view. - **Apple Watch gets the bits that belong on a watch.** Dictate a task, start a keeper, see its countdown, then stop or repeat it. The iPhone owns the cue when reachable; otherwise the Watch keeps one local cue, so both do not buzz for the same thing. - **The Apple release is £7.99 once.** One purchase is intended to include the iPhone, iPad and Watch app. Web and independently distributed Android stay free. There is no subscription or in-app purchase. Android and the web app are published here and verified against the files the site serves. The Android build carries the same certificate as every release since 0.1.0, so it upgrades an existing install rather than asking you to uninstall first. **The Apple app is not available yet, and nothing on it can be bought.** The iPhone, iPad and Watch targets build and run, but the App Store Connect record, the signed archive, TestFlight acceptance, the checks on a physical iPad and Watch, and Apple's review all remain to be done. The £7.99 above is the intended price, not a price anybody can pay today. ## 0.8.27 — 31 August **A smaller first move, and repairs at the places Den has to keep its word.** - **A thing that keeps coming round can become one physical move.** After the second time you say *Not this*, Den offers one optional field: what happens when the runway ends? The answer becomes an ordinary linked item and goes straight into the runway. The original Start and Not this buttons remain; this is another door, not a question you have to answer. - **Import adds to what is already here instead of replacing it.** The merge itself was correct and the app emptied its live lists before giving them to it, so importing an archive could make local items disappear. A fresh installation also restores the chosen profile, settings, block length and break length from the archive now. An installation with settings of its own keeps that bundle intact. - **Sync no longer empties a list when the relay has no news.** Tasks, threads, dates and deletion markers are copied before the merge touches the live lists. Saving what came back is no longer mistaken for a new local edit either, which had kept the four-second sync loop running for ever. - **Five more minutes belongs to this break.** Extending one break used to change the saved length of every later break too. The next break now starts at the length you chose in Settings. - **The strongest Android return cue really repeats.** The every-minute rung used to fire once. It now re-arms each minute until you acknowledge it, and opening a full-screen cue automatically is not mistaken for your answer. - **The iPhone cue checks ask iOS instead of assuming.** Notification permission, the completion haptic and the background self-test now implement the same channel contract as Android. The diagnostics stay undecided while those answers are loading rather than briefly saying everything is allowed. - **The iPhone build is a real native surface now.** Its packaged protocol engine runs from a local trustworthy origin, sync keys are protected by the device-bound Keychain and current Face ID set, and export/import uses the Apple Files sheet. A phone export includes the recorded blocks as well as the list and settings. - **A running block stays visible on iPhone.** A local Live Activity carries the countdown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. It uses no push token or server; the existing local notification remains the end cue when Den is suspended or killed. - **The setup choices now say what they change.** The old screen gave you sentence fragments and answers such as “Neutral”, then hid what each answer would make Den do. It now asks four direct questions about Den's behaviour and explains every choice before you tap it. - **The data page is published.** It describes local storage, optional relay sync, export, permissions and deletion in plain words, and is linked from the Den page. There is no postal or email address to invent, so none is stated. ## 0.8.26 — 30 August **A pass over the whole app, getting the three versions ready to release.** - **Dated things say when they are.** "Coming up" showed the name and what was outstanding, and if nothing was outstanding it showed no date at all. It now says "In 22 days", or "Tomorrow", or "9 days ago". Nothing turns red and it never says overdue. - **You can change the relay.** Settings said the relay is ours by default and the site said you could point Den at a different one. There was no way to. There is now, in Sync, with a way back to the default. - **The export README was wrong about one thing.** It said Den has no internet permission. It does have one, and uses it for sync if you turn that on and for the version check when you tap it. The file is the part meant to make sense after Den is gone, so it should not have said something untrue. - **The iPhone version can be built and submitted.** Two things would have stopped it: it would have closed itself the moment it asked for Face ID, and Apple would have refused the upload. Neither is a change you will see, and both had to be right before there can be an iPhone version at all. ## 0.8.25 — 30 August **You can see the time left as a shape now, and five things that were broken are not.** - **A ring that empties.** Most timers, this one included, showed you a number and left you to do the arithmetic. There is now a ring around the clock that empties as the time goes, which you can read at a glance without counting. It is in Settings under "Every part of it" if you would rather have just the numbers, or just the shape. It never turns red, and it never flashes. - **Nothing is ticked before you have chosen it.** Opening "How you work" for the first time showed Spark already ticked, which was not a choice you had made. It now says what Den is behaving like until you pick, which is honest, and ticks nothing. - **Answering the questions counts.** If you answered them, Den went on asking you to answer them. It does not any more. - **Four questions, not five.** One of them set something that does not exist yet, so your answer went nowhere. It comes back when the thing it sets does. - **You can bin something you just added.** Adding a thing by mistake used to mean living with it for forty days or marking it done, which is a lie. There is a "Bin it" on every item now, with an undo. - **"I drifted" says it heard you.** It recorded your tap and showed nothing at all, so there was no way to tell it had worked. It says "Noted." now. It does not count them: that is nobody's business, including Den's. - **Adding a thread uses buttons, not sliders.** Sliders are hard to hit accurately and easy to fiddle with. It steps a rung at a time, like block length does. ## 0.8.24 — 29 August **Den can now tell you when there is a newer version, and how to take it without losing anything.** Den installs directly rather than through a shop, so nothing on your phone says a new version exists. Until now it did not even show you which version you had. - **Settings shows the version you are running**, at the bottom. - **Tap it and Den asks the site whether there is a newer one.** It only ever looks when you tap. It never checks on its own, and it sends nothing about you or your list. - **If there is one, it tells you what to do.** The short version: install it on top of the one you have and your list, threads and history stay exactly where they are. **Do not uninstall Den first.** There is no copy of your things anywhere else, so uninstalling takes them with it. Export everything first if you want to be certain. This is the first version that can do this, so it cannot have told you about itself. From here on it can. ## 0.8.23 — 29 August **If your profile does not suggest what to do with a break, it no longer suggests one.** - **Plain stops telling you to go somewhere quiet.** Plain is the profile that presumes nothing about you, and on every break it said "Somewhere quiet. No screen." That was a bug: there are three kinds of break and the screen only knew about two, so "no suggestion" quietly borrowed the quiet one's words. - **Break suggestions can vary.** Three ways of saying it rather than one, if you want that, and always the same if you do not. Spark asked for this from the beginning and there was nothing to vary between. - **Both are in "Every part of it"**, alongside the rest. ## 0.8.22 — 29 August **Every part of how Den behaves can now be changed, one piece at a time.** Choosing Spark or Groove or Weave was meant to be a starting point. In practice it was the only thing you could set: the fifteen settings underneath a profile could be replaced all at once, or not at all. Someone who wanted Groove's gentle end with Spark's short blocks had nowhere to say so, and the whole reason there are four profiles is that people need opposite things. - **Settings, "Every part of it".** Ten settings, one at a time, each saying what it does and what it was set to when you started. Change one and the rest stay put. There is a way back to your profile's version at the bottom. - **How Den words things.** New, and near the top, because none of the four profiles chose it: if being told what to do makes you want to do the opposite, Den can stop phrasing anything as an instruction. "It is there" instead of "Start". This existed and was almost impossible to find. - **The five questions are remembered now.** If you answered them, the result was quietly thrown away the next time you opened Den, and it went back to your profile's settings. That was a bug and it had been there a while. - **Shortening your longest block actually shortens it.** Lowering the ceiling used to leave a longer block already in place, and restarting kept it. ## 0.8.21 — 29 August Three things people asked for. - **You can say how heavy a thing feels.** Light, normal or heavy, in the menu next to a task, and "not saying" is always there. It describes the job, not you, and nothing is scored or added up. - **A light one is offered first, before you have started anything that day.** After the first block the list goes back to its ordinary order, because always leading with the easiest thing is a way of never doing the hard one. - **One download button for Android.** It was not clear which of the three files to take. The one that suits essentially every phone since about 2017 is now simply the button, and all three, with their checksums, are one click away. ## 0.8.20 — 29 August - **If you use a large text size, the block and break screens were cut off.** Stop, Park a thought and Extend were below the bottom edge, so a block could be started and not ended without turning the text back down first. Both screens now scroll, as does the runway. Every screen is checked at twice the system text size from now on. ## 0.8.19 — 28 August A pass over how Den reads and how it is handled. - **The list rows were up to six unlabelled symbols.** One of them was a branch arrow meaning "name the smallest first move", which nobody could be expected to guess. Each row now has the one action it is about, plus a menu where everything else is written out in words. - **Em dashes are gone from everything you read.** They ask you to hold half a sentence open while the rest arrives, which is a cost this app should not be charging. - **The profile card can be waved away.** It said "when you have a minute" and then could not be got rid of except by answering it. Settings still has the questions whenever you want them. - **It said four questions. There are five.** - **The home screen no longer breaks at large text sizes**, and the profile straplines are no longer italic. ## 0.8.18 — 28 August - **A date that had passed kept pushing its task to the front of the list, for ever.** Den was built to let you take it in once and then stop weighting it — that is the whole point of not nagging — but there was no way to say you had seen it. There is now a **Noted** next to the line. - **Resting a thread, or marking a dated thing done, might not have stuck across two devices.** Neither edit recorded *when* it happened, so when your phone and browser compared notes there was nothing to say which was newer. They record it now. ## 0.8.17 — 28 August - **Things could go onto the shortlist and not come back.** Moving one down was possible all along, by long-pressing the row, but nothing said so — every other action on that row is a button you can see. There is now a down arrow next to it. The long-press still works if you had found it. ## 0.8.16 — 28 August - **A new version of the browser app could take four hours to reach you.** The page that loads it was always fetched fresh, but the two scripts it pulls in were cached for four hours, so a fix published minutes ago was simply not what your browser ran, and reloading did not help. Each release now names those scripts with its own version, so a reload always gets the new one. ## 0.8.15 — 28 August - **Opening History and then rotating the phone made the list disappear.** It re-read every record from disk each time anything on the screen rebuilt, and showed a spinner while it did. It now reads once when you open it. The reading itself was never slow — that was measured, not assumed — but it was happening far more often than once. ## 0.8.14 — 27 August - **The clock was a bare number to anyone using a screen reader.** "24:59" with no unit and no direction — and the direction matters, because in Groove the same digits count *up* once the planned time has passed. It now says what it is: minutes and seconds left, or past the planned time, or of break left. ## 0.8.13 — 27 August - **"Not this" with one thing on the list now says so.** It worked before, and put the same task back because there was nothing else, and said nothing — which is indistinguishable from a button that does not work. - Naming a smallest first move while the shortlist is full now tells you it could not be put in front of you. The step is still kept, in the inbox. The same refusal reached you through the other door already. - The download page said your export would leave you a folder. That is true of the phone. A page cannot write a folder, so the browser hands you one file with the same contents nested inside; the page now says both. ## 0.8.12 — 27 August - **Den said "0 minutes. That is 0 more than none" if you stopped a block inside its first minute.** Stopping is offered from the first second on purpose, so this was not an edge case. Under a minute is now its own sentence. "1 minutes" is gone too. - Profile cards are announced to a screen reader as separate sentences, so how a profile works is no longer read out in the same breath as who else picks it. ## 0.8.11 — 27 August - **"Will the cue arrive?" told browsers that cues could reach them.** It said in the same breath that the browser has no cue engine, then showed a tick beside "Allowed. Cues can reach you", an Allow button that reached nothing, and a self-test that would have blamed a phone that was not involved. In a browser it now shows the verdict and nothing else. - **The sync switch read "Sync is on" when sync was off.** The subtitle was right; the title was a fixed string. A screen reader announced both as fact, title first, about the setting that decides whether anything leaves. - **The pairing code, the confirmation number and your device key were invisible to a screen reader.** All three were announced as empty text fields. The confirmation is the worst of the three: comparing six digits across two screens is the whole security of pairing. - Naming a parked thought is now dictation-friendly, like the other three places you can type something. - **An export made in a browser can now be imported on the phone.** There was no way to do that before, and the phone is where your records live. ## 0.8.10 — 27 August - **A phone with no space left could stop the clock and never end the block.** The record was written before the block ended, so a failed write left you inside a block that had stopped counting, with no message and no way out but force-quitting. The block now ends first and the record is written after — and if it cannot be written, the break screen says so. **This is the reason to update from anything earlier.** - Extend now moves the countdown on the press rather than when the foreground service answers. ## 0.8.9 — 27 August - The README inside a browser export described a folder you were never given. ## 0.8.8 — 27 August - History and the capacity check said "nothing recorded yet" in a browser, where blocks are not recorded at all and never will be. They now say the records are on your phone. ## 0.8.7 — 27 August - **Spark's cues did not vary.** The setting existed, was written into every record, and was read by nothing. ## 0.8.6 — 27 August - **Groove's warned end did not exist.** Same shape as above: the setting was there and nothing acted on it. ## 0.8.5 — 27 August - Den has its own icon. The first four public releases shipped Flutter's default logo. ## 0.8.4 — 27 August - **Every fresh install started with its cue degraded.** Den now takes the exact-alarm permission Android grants a timer on install, rather than one you had to find and allow. - The page claimed the cue survived the app being killed. True of Android reclaiming memory, false of a manufacturer force-stop, which cancels pending alarms. Corrected. ## 0.8.3 — 27 August - The page said the twenty-five minute interval "was never measured against anything". It was, twice, in 2023 and 2025, and the two studies disagree. Corrected to what the evidence actually shows. ## 0.8.2 — 27 August - You can speak a task rather than type it, using your own keyboard. Den asks for no microphone permission and did not need one. - Nothing may put Den in a frame. ## 0.8.1 — 27 August - The web app introduced itself as "vitark_den". ## 0.8.0 — 27 August - **Android's own backup was on**, so the phone could copy Den's files — including the sync key — to Google, while the settings screen said nothing left the device. Now off, and checked against the release file on every publish. ## 0.7.3, 0.7.2, 0.7.1 — 27 August - The capacity tick claimed to run only while you were looking, and did not. - Checks added around which keys are adopted and what the copy says. ## 0.7.0 — 27 August - Signing in uses the Signet Access picker, matching the other sites. ## 0.6.0 — 27 August - Sync moved to the workshop relay and stopped reporting success it had not had: the last-synced time is stamped only when a relay actually answered. ## 0.5.0 — 27 August - **The sync tag named the product in plaintext**, while the code comment said no plaintext tag existed. It is hashed now. ## 0.4.0 — 26 August - Sign in with a Nostr signer. Den never writes anything you record under that identity; it is used to lock and unlock one key. ## 0.3.0 — 26 August - Pair a browser with your phone, and stay in step without holding a socket open in the background. ## 0.2.0 — 26 August - Connect an identity you already have, or make one. ## 0.1.0 — 24 August - The first build: launchpad, the two-minute door, the block, the break, and the cue path that has to survive Doze.
